Fighting games dominated the smoky, dim, and oh-so-loud arcades of the 1990s. The Street Fighter, The King of Fighters, and Mortal Kombat’s “triangle of excellence” existed between the game publishing branches of Capcom, SNK, and Acclaim/Midway.
Speaking of Mortal Kombat, the initial game in the series was equally shocking and humbling because of its excessive violence and relentless gore.
So much so that after the government attempted to intervene to regulate violent video games, the gaming industry was compelled to police itself by establishing the Entertainment Software Rating Board. It would be an understatement to say that MK is a game that breaks new ground and sets trends.

A historical franchise in the video game business is Mortal Kombat. In addition to pushing the edges of what was acceptable in interactive media in the 1990s, the series has continued to innovate and evolve the fighting-game genre with high-quality cinematic story modes, novel post-launch support strategies, and an ongoing drive to push the genre’s frontiers.
The series has typically been enjoyable regardless of age, whether you’re talking about the early installments of the violent blockbuster or the most current releases. Ranking each game in the franchise can be challenging as a result. Nevertheless, we made the decision to give it a go and ranked the entire series from worst to greatest.
The fighting genre wouldn’t be the same without Mortal Kombat, which is a mainstay in that genre.

Mortal Kombat 11
NetherRealm Studios set out to build an ambitious and innovative experience built on top of the rock-solid foundation created with MK9 after two enormously successful entries in the new storyline.
Mortal Kombat 11 is what came of it; it probed the most remote corners of the Mortal Kombat canon, unveiled a new cast of endearing characters, and showed an unprecedented level of support for the Mortal Kombat fanbase.
Mortal Kombat 11 delivers full-throttle on all fronts, whether you’re talking about the series’ throwbacks or the massive Aftermath extension that included an entire second story mode (with actor Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa reprising his role as Shang Tsung from the iconic 1995 film).
Therefore, if I’m not especially considering a sentimental connection when asked to rate the best Mortal Kombat games, I have to answer that the most recent release from NetherRealm Studios is the best ever!
It is the third installment of the franchise’s current revival and the ideal conclusion to everything fantastic we have seen thus far.
fantastic graphics 3D environments with 2D combat. Deaths, stage deaths, breakups of friendships, and lethal blows (similar to X-ray fatalities). 37 characters are playable. Customization of characters.
I mean, I think I stated enough to persuade you that it has every element that makes Mortal Kombat enjoyable and deserving of the arduous grind.

Mortal Kombat 2011
The newly established NetherRealm Studios returned the Mortal Kombat franchise to its roots in a variety of ways after an extended stay in the 3D space and a persistent drive toward bombast in its storylines.
Along with taking the franchise back to its 2D fighting beginnings, Mortal Kombat 9 also saved gamers from the impending apocalypse with a time-traveling plot that retold a modified version of the events from the previous three games.
Mortal Kombat 9 introduced the popular X-ray moves, where you could see the destruction being inflicted on the recipient’s insides, in addition to bringing together a number of the series’ most recognizable characters.
The emphasis placed on narrative storytelling by MK9 during the ten years since its release has probably left the franchise as the strongest storyteller in the fighting game category.
The Australian Classification Board blatantly refused to classify the game, making it an illegal import into Australia. Similar limitations were imposed in South Korea and Germany.
As everyone is aware, positive media attention boosts sales… So, ya babies, cry all you want.
The Mortal Kombat remake was an enormous hit. It won multiple games of the year awards and earned overwhelmingly good reviews. And with over 4 million copies sold, sales were absolutely phenomenal.
Mortal Kombat 1993
This is the game that got everything started. One of the most innovative fighting games ever was created by a team of outstanding video game developers that included Ed Boon, John Tobias, John Vogel, Dan Forden, and others. Everyone was taken aback at first by the over-the-top brutality and the usage of computerized visuals.
Playing the bloody game itself brought a new group of players who reveled in the savagery and bloodletting that took place during each one-on-one confrontation. These events led to the creation of recognizable fighting game characters including Lui Kang, Johnny Cage, Scorpion, and Sub-Zero.
And from that point on, Mortal Kombat’s brutal uppercuts and match-ending Fatalities elevated the fighting game genre to a new level.
Mortal Kombat 2
The 1993 release of Mortal Kombat II was a huge deal. Like its predecessor, it ruled the arcades and did so by incorporating the lofty mythos of the series and adding fresh, cruel, and hilarious finishers to the game.
Everyone in this game appeared to be much better than they had previously, which made the ruthlessness onscreen appear even more insane than it had previously.
This fantastic sequel also receives special recognition for introducing Kitana, Mileena, Kung Lao, Noob Saibot, and Shao Kahn, who have become fan favorites.

Mortal Kombat 4
Although Mortal Kombat 4 receives a lot of criticism, we are among the fans who have more affection for it than most. The game’s fully 3D visuals were a significant improvement over what was seen in the first three games. And all of the bloody battles grew even more nauseating as a result.
The ability to pull out a weapon and deliver even more brutal beatings is still a fantastic aspect in this fighter that should be utilized.
In terms of the new characters, Tanya, Quan Chi, and Fujin stood out as the most important ones to care about. MK4 abandoned all the absurdity of its predecessors to return to a more serious tone.

Mortal Kombat X
Mortal Kombat X started moving the series forward in interesting ways after MK9 took it back to its roots. More horrifying how-did-they-get-up-from-that movements than in MK9. The fantastic X-ray assaults made a triumphant comeback, but the cast of new characters steals the show. Mortal Kombat X featured some of the most iconic characters since the original trilogy, like the ice-cold mercenary Erron Black. The new generation of combatants Cassie Cage and Jacqui Briggs, and the outrageously unnerving D’Vorah.
The updated Mortal Kombat XL includes all nine of the extra characters that were added in DLC packs. In addition to the twenty-four characters that were present at the launch. Predator, Alien, Jason Voorhees, and Leatherface are some of these characters.
You can think of Mortal Kombat X as a direct sequel to Mortal Kombat 2011, much like “Deadly Alliance” and “Deception” did. And it’s hard to tell which of the two is superior.

However, in this instance, we gave the reboot a minor advantage because it really raised the bar for the subsequent MK generation.
Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3

Jade, Ermac, and Smoke were all recognizable characters in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. And Smoke’s ability to turn invisible made facing Reptile, to put it mildly, very fascinating. The addition of various new stages, such as Scorpions Lair.
Which allowed you to uppercut your opponent into a lava lake, distinguished the “Ultimate” version from the original version.

Mortal Kombat Deception
Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, the game we told you was the revival of the franchise in the early 2000s, was followed by Mortal Kombat: Deception.
In response to complaints from fans, they reinstated many character deaths and even provided a hara-kiri suicide maneuver for players to use during the “Finish Him” scene.
The single-player “Konquest” mode from “Deception” is also included in “Deadly Alliance.” This is an adventure-style game that takes place in a constrained open environment.
There are a total of 26 playable characters, including Liu Kang’s comeback and nine completely new characters.
In many ways, “Deception” might be seen as a sequel to “Deadly Alliance,” simply enhancing an excellent title.
And the players did indeed respond in exactly that way.
Just as good, if not better, than “Deadly Alliance.”

Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance
Developer Midway began focusing more on narrative as the Mortal Kombat series began prioritizing home systems over arcades. A new trilogy of 3D fighting games called Deadly Alliance debuted with the shocking news that Shang Tsung and Quan Chi. Two of the series’ most wicked characters have banded together.
There is a lot to enjoy about Deadly Alliance because it uses numerous fighting techniques and provides a balanced roster. A limited amount of fatalities and the Konquest mode acting just as a character instruction make Deadly Alliance, not the strongest game of the trilogy it began.
However, aficionados of the 3D period of the series will view it as the title that set the franchise on the proper course.
Mortal Kombat 1992
The original masterpiece… Deadly Kombat. Number One.
The original often set the bar extremely high and creates a level of sentimental connection that is difficult to match.
The original Mortal Kombat game will always rank among the finest, especially for me.
If you were alive at the time and can recall what it was like to first see Mortal Kombat, you will understand what I mean. It was revolutionary.
We were amazed by the realistic graphics when we first played it in the arcades in the early 1990s. Because of its original method of using photography-based sprites.
The fatalities, too? Come on, dude! In 1992, how incredibly awesome was that?
If we are talking about the games that invented the genre, it is not our favorite best Mortal Kombat game, but it is on our list of the best fighting games. One of the most illustrious video games in the history of the best Mortal Kombat games.

Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks
You would think the Midway team would give up after two unsuccessful spin-offs of Mythologies, Sub Zero and Special Forces. Thankfully, the Mortal Kombat team believed that the third time would be the charm and produced Mortal Kombat. The series’ first high-quality spin-off game.
Do any of you still have Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero or Mortal Kombat: Special Forces in your collection? I don’t, either.
And based on reviews from players and critics, they are two entries that we are fortunate not to recall.
Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks, however, is a spinoff game that people are enthusiastic about talking about. Shaolin monks will obviously get a place in our list of best mortal kombat games
This game was released not long after “Deadly Alliance” and “Deception,” two titles that received high ratings on this list and many other greatest Mortal kombat games lists, were popular.
This one will be ideal for you if you like Mortal Kombat mythology and the God of War gameplay.

Mortal Kombat Vs DC Universe
Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe is a fighting video game that merges the Mortal Kombat and DC Comics realms, as the title undoubtedly suggests.
Midway capitalized on the tremendous selection of DC characters and pitted them against some of our favorite characters in their own lineup. Following the lead of similar crossover fighting games made popular by companies like Capcom or SNK.
The Mortal Kombat roster and the DC roster each have their own perspective that is used to tell the story in the game’s story mode. Resulting in a story that is pretty intriguing.
Play as Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Baraka, or Raiden. How awesome is it, really?
